Since 2002, 20dB Hearing has been redefining the standard of hearing healthcare through the vision of its founder, Mr. Mok Yong Yaw. As a dedicated audiologist, Mr. Mok identified the urgent need for accessible, professional hearing services and took the bold step to establish Malaysia’s first audiologist-led hearing care centre in Taman Maluri, Cheras. It began as Gnosis Professional Hearing Services, offering compassionate and expert hearing support to those in need.

 

With growing recognition and trust, the second centre opened in Seremban in 2003. What followed was a steady expansion driven by a team of passionate audiologists, some of whom returned from Singapore to contribute to the mission. This spirit of dedication and service allowed 20dB Hearing to grow into a recognised leader in hearing healthcare across Malaysia.

 

Today, the brand continues to grow beyond national borders, guided by the belief that better hearing leads to better living. Our team remains committed to providing innovative solutions, personalised care, and a supportive environment that empowers individuals to reconnect with the world around them.

Our Founder

In 2002, Mr. Mok Yong Yaw, the founder of 20dB Hearing, recognized the need for hearing-impaired individuals in Malaysia to access professional care and guidance. Realizing the lack of professionally managed hearing care centers, he established 20dB Hearing, formerly known as Gnosis Professional Hearing Services, with its first outlet in Taman Maluri, Cheras.

 

Driven by a passion for helping the hearing-impaired community, Mr. Mok expanded the network by recruiting pioneer audiologists, including those from Singapore, and opening additional outlets nationwide. Today, 20dB Hearing operates with a philosophy of being a blessing to the hearing-impaired community by providing access to the best products and services delivered by dedicated audiologists.

Mr. Mok holds a Bachelor of Audiology (Hons) degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and specializes in speech audiometry, hearing aid fitting, and counseling. Before founding 20dB Hearing, he worked as an audiologist at Siemens Medical Instruments Pte Ltd from 2000 to 2003 and served as a part-time clinical supervisor at UKM Audiology Clinic from 2001 to 2005. In 2008, he earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from The University of Melbourne. He is now based at 20dB Hearing’s HQ office in Kuching.
